Cesspools  (Cesspits)

As a cesspool is only a holding tank and will needs to be emptied via a suction tanker you must take into consideration that the annual running cost of a cesspool is very high. This will need emptying approximately every 10-20 weeks depending on size and use where as a septic tank should only require emptying once a year.

Cesspools are only installed in areas and where a septic tank or treatment plant cannot be installed. Sewage Solutions we always consider the options that are available to your circumstances and we will provide a report and quotation for the preferred method of sewage disposal.

Designed for wastewater storage only – not treatment

 BSI Code of Practice 6297:1983 recommends that for full-time usage a cesspool should have a minimum capacity of 18,000 litres or 45 days’ storage. A rate of 137 litres per person per day is used to calculate the capacity required for each project. However, smaller tanks may be acceptable if usage is only part-time.
